Shameless self-promotion - LOL!

While traveling around the country, Shawn and I get a number of offers from people to come to their course, to play in their league. I've even been asked to play in a challenge match by the friends of a player who claims he will never be beaten by a woman.

Most of the time, we are unable to accommodate such requests, however, while in New York, I received a offer that I didn't want to pass up. I got an email from a man who calls himself 'Grandaddy'. He asked us to come see his personal course and to have dinner with him and his wife.

We didn't have much time, as we were on our way to Chicago to work with DiscTV again, but we did take a few hours to stop by and see his course. He has a small, well manicured course on his own land. It is a pay-to-play and offers some very nice shots. It has a good variety of trees with some elevation changes and beautiful flowers throughout. We didn't have time to play it, but did walk the whole thing. It looked like a really fun course that had three tees per hole so it is beginner friendly but yet challenging to the pro player. Shawn and I were both impressed with the amount of work that had gone into the course, but we had only seen the beginning.

After the tour of the Chainbiters course, Grandaddy took us to his mother's property where he and some other family members are working on another much larger course. Shawn and I were completely blown away by the land. It had everything! We walked the land and were shown the probable course that will be in the ground within the next couple of years. It will truly be epic. There is an amazing amount of work that needs to be done before the course is completed which includes creating a pond or two. But when this course is finished, I expect it to make a name for itself and fast.

Hello Grandaddy, I don't know if you remember me, but I am Kim Gray and I contacted you some time ago about how you got started on your course. You had sent me some information and the story about how you started with pictures of your land before and after completion.

I just wanted you to know that we are now up and running, we just had our Grand Opening a week ago, and everything is going great here in Maine.

We wanted to thank you for your information because of that we decided to go ahead with our plans and build a course here on our land, you were our inspiration.

We are part of the maine disc golf coalition now and we have pictures of our course on the web site that I thought I would tell you about. It's at www.mainediscgolf.com under courses we are Basket Case Links.

Thank you again for all of your help a while ago we really do appreciate it.

Thanks again
Kim Gray
