2010 Can Am Cup August 28/29 Chainbiters Course at Brown's Farm

Tournament Schedule Saturday 8:00am - Mandatory Captains Meeting Players meeting - 8:30am / tee off - 9:00am sharp! golf / Floating Lunch / golf Pig Roast Sunday Players meeting - 8:30am / tee off - 9:00am sharp! 27 holes / Floating Lunch / Final 9 for top four teams Team Roster Requirements 6 person teams (a team can actually bring between 0 & 4 pros) 2 open (pro/am) 1 master (pro/am) 1 Woman (pro/am) 2 amateurs - *NOTE - ams must be true ams, not a pro with a low rating *All non-PDGA members - $10.00 Team Residency Requirements A team must consist of a minimum 4 people from the geographic area that's being represented. Cost is $330.00 US for each team ($350 Brewer's Cup) Please send money order made out to Chainbiters Disc Golf to: Chainbiters Disc Golf 2053 Rt 83 Forestville, NY 14062 The Format (Because of physical time restraints, if we have more than 10 teams we will be forced into a pool play format with seating. Seating will be based on last years Can Am Cup standings) Saturday: Like last year, we will break up into divisions, then split into foursomes. These foursomes go out and play three 9 hole matches during a the first round of play. Player A plays Player B and Player C plays Player D for the first nine holes. Then A plays C, B plays D in the second nine hole match. The first round continues with A playing D and B playing C. Toward the end of these 27 holes stop and grab a quick lunch as you pass the clubhouse. Same format for the afternoon. Then we party at the camp site. Pig Roast, bonfire, live music, putting contest, swimming, whatever. Sunday: Same as Saturday morning... After each team has have played all of the other teams in the field, match points are added up, and the top two teams play each other head to head in a 9 hole match to award Gold and Silver medals. The third and fourth place teams play off for the Bronze and Copper. Awards, pictures and we go home. Tournament Point system The format has been match play from the beginning. One point is at stake in each match -- For example, Open player #1 from Team A plays Open player #1 from Team B in a nine hole match. The player with the most holes won is the winner of the match, and earns a match point for his/her team. Ties in the match earns both players' teams 1/2 point. An accumulated match points system is used. All players (an am Master playing a pro Master for example) must play the same course, and that the points accrued by teams in the preliminary rounds are used to set the seeding for the medal round, but do not carry over into the medal matches. The top two teams from the preliminary rounds play for the gold medal, the third and fourth place teams after the preliminary rounds play for the bronze. We use the match points system to determine the medal round seeding because it makes every match played equally important. *Please be aware of the new substitution rule developed in case of an injury during the Can Am Cup. Criteria for substitution: This substitution rule is to "replace an injured player only", NOT to replace someone who is simply tired, fatigued or burned out. A substitute player may replace a team player only if the team player cannot continue play because of an incapacitating injury. The TD will make the final decision on determining an "incapacitating injury". Qualifications for substitute player: The substitute player must be designated before the tournament competition begins and must meet the qualification criteria of the roster member for whom they are subbing. (ie: woman, true amateur, master) For example… Should you bring along an extra Pro as a sub and one of your true Ams needs a sub… the Pro is not eligible to play the spot, however, a true Am could play the Open spot. If you want a sub that can cover any position… She must be a true Am over forty! Only 3 minutes will be allowed for the sub to replace the injured player and resume play in the normal rotation of shots, once the TD has made his decision. Any holes missed during the exchange of the injured and alternate player will be forfeited. Grandaddy & J. Gary
